International documentary film festival

ACID – Association for the distribution of Independent Cinema – is an association of film directors which, since 1992, has been promoting the cinema distribution of independent films and encouraging debates between the authors and the audiences.

Every year, ACID filmmakers choose to support 20 to 30 feature films, usually half fictions and half documentaries. To do so, they follow their love for a film and wish to give visibility to directors whose work is scarcely distributed 9 of those films are screened in ACID own parallel section at the Cannes Film Festival.

Documentaries were strongly represented in ACID choices as soon as the association was funded. Among the authors discovered in ACID Cannes or supported by ACID at their beginnings are: Jean-Pierre Thorn, Claire Simon, Denis Gheerbrant, Nicolas Philibert, Henri-François Imbert, Vincent Dieutre, Didier Nion, Mariana Otero, Raed Andonti, Claus Drexel, Emmanuel Gras, Ioanis Nuguet…

We are thus very honored to be part of this special focus this year in Florence since our goals and missions are very close to the festival’s: supporting daring authors and allowing the widest audience possible to discover their work.

In cooperation with ACID, the Institut français Firenze, Institut français Italia, and the Embassy of France with the participation of SCAM (Société Civile des Auteurs Multimédia, France)
