  • 5 FILM ABBANDONATI
    5 STRAYED FILMS

    Directed by: Sergio Oksman
In a sort of jam session, Sergio Oksman proposes a walk through five films he has never completed. The goal of this journey through pictures is to examine these ‘illegitimate children’ and, by doing so, actually reflect on the creative process. Oksman will show the footage and share his dilemmas with the audience, trying to understand the reason why the five films wound up unfinished.

2016 Monday, November 28th, Spazio Alfieri, 4:30 pm - Free Entrance

  • A STORY FOR THE MODLINS

    Spain 2012 26'
    Directed by: Sergio Oksman
A man who dreams of becoming an actor and lands a small role in Rosemary’s Baby by Roman Polanski. This will be his only appearance in cinema. Departing from a detail of that film, like in a visionary novel the story of a family is narrated by way of letters, photos, and objects. A short, dazzling cutting of words and pictures portrays the invisible, unknown madness and creativity of an existence.

  • GOODBYE, AMERICA

    Spain 2006 72'
    Directed by: Sergio Oksman
Al Lewis is an American character actor who was famous for playing the role of the grandfather in the cult series of the Sixties The Monsters. In the dressing room of a small studio set, while the actor’s face is being made up, he tells the story of himself in front of the mirror, spanning from political commitment and love for the show business to cinema, television, and radio. A story that soon becomes a portrait of America, its dreams and utopias, its fights and disillusionments.

  • LA ESTETICIÉN

    Brasil, Spain 2004 96'
    Directed by: Sergio Oksman
A woman is filmed during her daily chores. She describes her life while stock footage shows the historic events in which she was involved: the war, deportation, Auschwitz, from which she survived. A classic documentary. Suddenly, this stops and another film takes shape, putting on screen the work of cinema on the mystery of storytelling. Arresting the interview mechanism, Oksman deals with the boundary between memory and imagination, fabulation and testimony.

    2016 Saturday, November 26th, La Compagnia, 4:30pm

  • NOTES ON THE OTHER

    Spain 2009 13'
    Directed by: Sergio Oksman
A man lies on the ground in a street in Pamplona, in 1924, after the bulls’ stampede of the popular celebration. The novelist Ernest Hemingway sees the scene, and declares right at that moment he wants to be that man. A film about identity as desire, aspiration, disguise, and above all unending narrative in which story and discourse are cleverly mixed.
