#1 "THE INVENTION OF REALITY" Workshop by Sergio Oksman
During this workshop, Sergio Oksman will discuss his method of writing reality: from the initial concept to the final cut, the documentary film-maker juxtaposes bits taken from the Real with the aim of writing what could have happened or dares to invent what could happen in front of the camera. Real characters, ghosts, and shadows coexist in a journey with several bifurcations. In an erratic process of writing-and-deleting, the film-maker sneaks between fiction and reality, chance and control, in a dangerous game whose results are never known for sure.
THE DIRECTOR Sergio Oksman (São Paulo, Brazil, 1970) studied Journalism in Brazil and Film in New York. After a period of training in Brazil, where he made a few TV documentaries, he moved to Spain, where he began to work for television making documentaries and reportages. In the late Nineties, he realized a 22-episode TV series composed of portraits of famous soccer players ("El partido del siglo", 1999) and a set of documentaries shot in Spain and in Brazil, such as Gaudì en la favela (2002) and Gilberto Gil. Un ministro en directo (2006). In 2000, Oksman established his own production company, Dok Films. However, with films like La Esteticién (2005) and Goodbye, America (2006), he embarked on the exploration of the documentary form in terms of film experimentation. The use of reality as material for the construction of narratives suspended between fact and fiction is to be found in films such as Notes on The Other (2009) and A Story for the Modlins (2012), Best Short-Length Documentary at the 53rd Festival dei Popoli, Best Documentary at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and Goya Award for Best Documentary in 2013, as well as O futebol (2015), Best Feature-Length Documentary at the 56th Festival dei Popoli. Sergio Oksman teaches documentary film-making at ECAM - Escuela de cine y Audiovisual de la comunidad de Madrid.

#2 "FILMING SENSATIONS" Workshop by Danielle Arbid
THE WORKSHOP
"I want to be as close to my fictional characters as I am to those of my documentaries. I want to live parallel lives, not just tell stories; feel strong states of mind and sensations.
My feature films, the way I perceive them, are like documentaries on my characters. I use a lot close-ups and long focus shoots to penetrate the universe that I create and purloin moments from it, forgetting the reality of the shooting as much as possible.
I have frequently filmed sex. I believe this is a prerogative of mine, as woman and as person of Arab origin. With the portrayal of bodies, and the grace that emanates from them, I try to get close to painting. I am always trying to embellish, exalt the actors. Of course, the show business is always part of making a film, but the most extraordinary thing about cinema is the risk component. You never know the result you’ll get in the end. Coming from a family of gamblers – my father was a poker player – I adore this aspect. When I make a film, I don’t take anything for granted. Shooting sex scenes is even more risky, even in Europe, in some ways. On the other hand, in my culture of origin, the Lebanese, where almost all of my films are forbidden, it’s even worse.
Nonetheless, I yearn incessantly for every film to be as burning as possible, in both substance and form as well as in the manner it is realized." (D. Arbid)
THE DIRECTOR
Born in Beirut in 1970, Danielle Arbid left from Lebanon at 17 years of age to study Literature at the Sorbonne and Journalism at the Centre de Formation des Journalistes of Paris and Brussels. In 1996, she wrote Scénario sensual et pervers, an interactive project for the contemporary art site Icono et Cie. In 1997, after working as journalist for the French press for five years, she wrote and directed her first short feature, Raddem (1998). In 2000, her career as documentary film-maker takes off with the medium-length documentary Seule avec la guerre, presented at several International Film Festivals such as Locarno, Hot Docs, Viennale, also awarded with a Special Mention of the Jury at the 41st Festival dei Popoli.
In 2002, she created the video installation Conversation de salon 1 for the MAK in Vienna. Over the following years, the project has taken on the dimension of documentary series and has reached the production of the seventh episode (still unreleased).
In 2005, she recorded the radio documentary This Smell of Sex for Radio France Culture. Three years on, departing from the same sound recordings and using the images found in a Super 8 she bought at a flea market, she made a documentary short with the same title.
Between 1998 and 2015, she has directed fourteen films including short-, medium-, and full-length films that have been presented and awarded at major International Film Festivals. Danielle Arbid has also realized photo exhibitions and music videos.
Danielle Arbid was involved in the organization of the Born in Beirut Film Festival, which bore a special interest in film prints, presenting a wide selection of vintage Super 8 films as well as Super 8 works by young filmmakers.

#3 "Interactive Documentary - Pratiche digitali per il racconto del reale" Seminario di Roberto Malfagia

Il settore emergente dell’Interactive Documentary è una tra le più vivaci e interessanti evoluzioni che il racconto della realtà attraverso il cinema sta compiendo. Ma per capire di cosa stiamo parlando è necessario definire cosa è un documentario interattivo e analizzare similitudini e differenze con il documentario lineare. Il documentario interattivo non va inteso come trasposizione delle dinamiche proprie del documentario lineare sulle piattaforme digitali, ma come un altro modo di negoziare con il reale e raccontarlo. Un nuovo media a tutti gli effetti che, attraverso le modalità di interazione digitale, si apre a forme di racconto partecipative, co-creative ed esperienziali.
In occasione dell'incontro, verrà presentato in anteprima Demal Teniew, di Roberto Malfagia, documentario interattivo sull'immigrazione di ritorno Italia/Senegal.
Roberto Malfagia
Diplomato nel 2004 al Master in tecniche narrative presso la Scuola Holden di Torino, ha insegnato scrittura creativa e sceneggiatura di cortometraggi per scuola Holden. Ha collaborato con Holden Art per progetti sulla narrazione dei beni culturali e fatto parte del progetto di ricerca “Nuovi linguaggi museali” per Fondazione Intesa – San Paolo.
Ha scritto e co-diretto il documentario Il Popolo Alto, ha scritto e curato la regia del Interactive Documentary MolecolaIF e What IF, entrambi per Internet Festival di Pisa.
Ha collaborato con L’Università degli studi di Parma e Università degli studi di Ferrara per seminari di narrazione.
È stato collaboratore di redazione per case editrici tradizionali (Giunti) e per case editrici multimediali (Scala Group, E-ducation.it) dove si è occupato di e-learning.
È stato consulente di Visual Storytelling e Narrative Design per Tele Estense (Ferrara), Omnicom Media Group, INDIRE (Istituto Nazionale Documentazione Innovazione Ricerca Educativa).
Fondatore de "La Jetée - Scuola di Visual Storytelling", attualmente è didatta, regista di Interactive Documentary e consulente in Narrative Design per prodotti di Digital Storytelling.

#4 "Realtà Virtuale, La Nuova Frontiera del Documentario?" Seminario a cura di Radical Plans
Il team della società fiorentina Radical Plans, tra le prime in Italia a produrre contenuti VR, tra cui No Borders, primo film italiano in VR - vincitore del Premio MigrArti alla 73esima Mostra d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia e in programma al 57esimo Festival dei Popoli - racconta i pregi, le peculiarità e le sfide artistiche e tecniche della produzione di un documentario in realtà virtuale.
Oltre a una discussione aperta con il pubblico, l'incontro includerà alcune dimostrazioni dei processi di produzione e post-produzione necessari per la creazione di un contenuto video in VR.

“IO FACCIO FILM” nasce per sostenere e valorizzare i professionisti e gli appassionati di cinema, dando voce e spazio ai protagonisti che rendono possibile la magia della settima arte. Professionisti e maestranze meno note al grande pubblico ma il cui apporto alla realizzazione di un film è fondamentale. #6 Presentazione del “Toscana Film Network”
Toscana Film Network nasce nel 2015 dall’esigenza di incontro e confronto maturata da alcune realtà imprenditoriali toscane operative nel settore cinematografico e dell’audiovisivo. Centrale era verificare e realizzare quanta energia e professionalità fosse presente sul territorio in grado di stimolare con determinazione il miglioramento dell’infrastruttura della produzione culturale della Regione Toscana e competere sul mercato nazionale ed internazionale.
L’obiettivo di Toscana Film Network e delle sue realtà fondatrici vuole essere la creazione di una rete d’impresa sempre più ampia, aperta al coinvolgimento di tutta la filiera imprenditoriale dell’audiovisivo toscano (produzione, service, post-produzione, distribuzione), con il primario obiettivo di riportare la nostra regione al ruolo che le compete nel settore a cui abbiamo dato e continuiamo a dare grandi artisti, autori, registi e produttori.
In solo un anno Toscana Film Network è passata da 9 soggetti imprenditoriali fondatori a oltre 40 per un numero di circa 80 professionisti coinvolti nel percorso di progettazione e crescita del network e tutti operanti all’interno delle società appartenenti a Toscana Film Network.
