Cinema La Compagnia – scheduled from 02 January to 11 January 2020

The last two years of Yves Saint Laurent, the Parisian designer who revolutionized fashion. In collaboration with Festival dei Popoli.

While Yves Saint Laurent, one of the greatest Parisian haute couture designers, designs the sketches for his final collection, Pierre Bergé runs a series of events behind the scenes to celebrate him as a modern myth. As he immersed himself in the fashion house during the last two years of YSL, documentary filmmaker Olivier Meyrou filmed the YSL-Bergé couple. In this portrait of those last years of YSL, the film offers an overview of behind-the-scenes observations, in which Saint Laurent seems fragile and sometimes a bit distant.

The film tells the story of something coming to an end, even through physical deterioration; that precise moment when creation itself seems impossible. It’s hard to see the world you created end.

Presented as Italian Premiere at the 60th edition of the Festival dei Popoli, the film is released at the La Compagnia di Firenze Cinema from 02 January to 11 January 2020.

Celebration, by Olivier Meyrou (France, 2018, 73′) original version with Italian subtitles
