In a short film that blends archival material with poetry, Francesco di Gioa reveals the story of the Libyan pot Fadil Hasin Ash-Shalmani. His deportation to Italy reveals one of the forgotten and violent faxes of italian colonization in Libya.

Francesco Di Gioia

Francesco Di Gioia (1993) in 2016 he achieved a BA (Hons) at the Politecnico of Milan in Communication Design, after which he began a course at the Civica Scuola Luchino Visconti in Documentary Filmmaking. During this course, he had the chance to co-directed a short documentary called Cast Iron Days (2018), which premiered at the Festival dei Popoli in Florence. In 2020 he approached found-footage cinema by making the short film Fathers’ Land (2021) and started working as an archive researcher assistant for other film-productions.
