Sergei Dvortsevoy

Sergei Dvortsevoy, from Kazakhstan, abandoned his career as an aeronautical engineer to become a filmmaker in the 1990s. He self-produced his first documentary, Bread day, which won numerous awards around the world and has become a classic of documentary cinema. Intimate and elegant, Dvortsevoy's documentaries are committed to observational filmmaking: his subjects, people living in a Russia in transition and trying in their own way to earn an existence.
