A point of departure in the register of reality: the recording of a conversation between a grandmother and her grandson, evoking a traumatic past of abuse. Some images: the mysterious gestures of a figure in the river. Shot with 16mm film stock which blurs the boundaries of real and imaginary, biography and creation, the film takes on the fluid profile of a psychomagical act: pain and desire, crisis and change, and an ‘I’ in search of itself, curing itself, transforming. Along this inner journey that the filmmaker invites us to share, time seems to untie from the knots of rationality and take the shape of water, an element that pervades the pictures. Inside and outside, identity and otherness blend; voices and sounds become tactile. We are watching a ritual that we guess before understanding it: it is cinema as a magic gesture, upturning perception and distorting the path of reality to reinvent life. (m.m.)
