THE NIGHT OF YOUR LIFE

Twenty-two-year-old Lotte Bax goes back on the dramatic events of an evening during which she had to face senseless violence. Along with her sister and film director, Fleur, and her other sister, Sophie, she attempts to create an alternate ending for that night, discussing with them about the consequences of what happened and the fear that derived from it. Simultaneously, astronomer Annelotte Derkink is focused on the search for a supernova. Along with her colleagues, she hopes she will be able to watch it explode, an event that could dramatically change the sky’s configuration. Both women are exploring nocturnal events bound to leave a mark. Are stars watching us?, wonders the young Dutch filmmaker, making a short film which creates a safe space for processing traumas and finding some reassurance. Accompanied by a mellow, refined music score, this is a creative gesture of mature consciousness which follows the characters along their journey to reconciliation with loving participation. (a.s.)
