It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley
by Amy Berg (USA, 2025, 106 mins, original version with Italian subtitles)
Jeff Buckley’s story is a twist of fate: the more he tried to distance himself from his father – a brilliant but self-destructive figure – the more he ended up resembling him. The film explores the intimate side of his life and brings together the testimonies of those who were close to him, through thick and thin. Only by getting to know the Man can we find answers to the many questions surrounding the Artist, who died prematurely but is never forgotten by his fans.

Rewind and Play
by Alain Gomis (Germany, France, 2022, 65 mins, original version with Italian subtitles)
December 1969. Thelonious Monk is in Paris to record a television show. Faced with the cameras and the interviewer’s relentless questions, the artist seems uncomfortable. He doesn’t understand why he has to go along with the script and respond with a string of platitudes. Then he sits down at the piano, his fingers glide across the keys, and the magic begins. A film about an ‘impossible’ interview and the paradox of trying to confine a giant within the small screen of the television.

Nothing Compares
by Kathryn Ferguson (Ireland, UK, 2022, 100 mins, original version with Italian subtitles)
At the top of the global charts, Sinéad O’Connor’s career came to an abrupt halt in 1992 when, as a guest on a TV show, she denounced paedophilia within the Church and tore up a photo of the Pope. The media scandal was followed by the cancellation of her contracts and her marginalisation. The film traces the difficult childhood and painful rebellion of the Irish artist with the unmistakable voice. Her act of protest foreshadowed that of many women who, like her, decided not to remain silent.

Nova ‘78
by Aaron Brookner, Rodrigo Areias (Portugal, UK, USA, 2025, 78 mins, original version with Italian subtitles)
In the autumn of 1978, the ‘Nova Convention’ took place at the Entermedia Theatre in New York, an eccentric celebration dedicated to William S. Burroughs during which artists of the calibre of Laurie Anderson, Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Philip Glass, Frank Zappa and many others paid tribute to the master of transgression. The recently rediscovered footage of the evenings bears witness to an extraordinary era, in which New York was the undisputed centre of music and the arts.
