Popoli Reloaded - The Festival dei Popoli at La Compagnia in Florence

From June 15 to 18, the Festival dei Popoli returns to the cinema  La Compagnia in Florence with Popoli Reloaded, the initiative organized by the Festival dei Popoli in collaboration with the  Accademia di Romania in Roma to celebrate the reopening of the cinema.

Four days of cinema, culture and insights in which the protagonist will be the Romanian director Radu Jude, winner this year of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

A retrospective to pay tribute to one of the most interesting voices of contemporary cinema, with the screening of six documentaries and a masterclass in the presence of the director at the cinema La Compagnia.

The program of Popoli Reloaded is composed of 20 films, including those of Doc Explorer, an experimental section on the hybridization of languages and the new frontiers of the cinema of reality, and Diamonds Are Forever, with the pearls of the Festival's historical archives, consisting of over 15 thousand titles.

The four-day event will close with the Italian premiere of Notes From The Underworld by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel (2020), a documentary that traces the fictional lives of Wienerlied tavern singer Kurt Girk and his gangster friend Alois Schmutzer.

A unique opportunity to return to theaters, made possible by the collaboration with  Mediateca Toscana,  Regione Toscana and Soprintendenza Archivistica e Bibliografica della Toscana within the project for the cataloguing, digitalization and valorization of the Festival dei Popoli's archives.
