DOMANI- IL VIAGGIO DI MAYSOON MAJIDI

Italy | 2025 | 67 min | col. | Italian, Persian

Maysoon Majidi, a Kurdish filmmaker, actress, and activist, was forced to flee from Iran because of her political and civil commitment against the Ayatollah regime. When she landed in Italy after crossing the sea, along with 77 other migrants, an actual judiciary ordeal began for her: she was arrested in Crotone on charges of aiding and abetting illegal immigration and taken to trial as a smuggler. Detained on the basis of unverified evidence, Majidi had to endure 302 days in prison, including two weeks in isolation. Vincenzo Caricari and Barbara Di Fabio have testified to the Kafkaesque turn in the life of the Kurdish-Iranian activist, transforming it into a cautionary tale of exile and imprisonment. Domani - Il viaggio di Maysoon Majidi is a cry against the paradoxical condition affecting those in search of a future who instead remain trapped in the legal mesh of a country that turns its back on them - people fighting for their civil rights.
