IL FANTASMA CHE È IN ME
Italy, Switzerland | 2025 | 100 min | col. | Italian, English, German
An autobiographical film in which the director portrays himself, his decades-old struggle with severe illness, and his relationship with his family and son. Soon the film takes a different path. Storytelling becomes the ground of a clash between image and truth. To narrate a tale and to narrate oneself: to question that veil that simultaneously obscures and unveils the many potential self-representations of oneself. Is it possible to disclose one’s secrets? Even those that have been hidden for years? And once disclosed, might they alter the image that others have of us? Can documentary cinema tear this veil? The film operates on this sensitive, dangerous edge. In doing so, however, it shows that it is still permeated by the trust in film. (D.D.)
