LIKE WATER, STONE & FOAM
Como el agua, la piedra y la espuma
Colombia | 2024 | 26 min | col.
A young native from Pasto, South-western Colombia, travels through the territory awakening ancestral memories of the original peoples. While she meets community elders and explores sacred sites in the heart of the Andes, she evokes and reconstructs the words of Juan Chiles, a legendary man who explored the region in the 18th century leaving behind an important legacy in terms of memory and oral folktale. Liliana’s voice travels along the river to meet the words of the Awa people: in the depths of the rainforest, memory flows on the waters, revealing that which dwells and resists in each native people. Diana Moreno goes back on the path trodden by Chiles, who invited men to camouflage in harmony with nature. Thanks to his guide, Like Water, Stone and Foam invites us to coexist with the ancestral memories and places of a people menaced by colonialism. (a.d.)
