Patricia “Pati” Franquesa, a film director and producer, is robbed of her laptop in a bar in Madrid. A few months after, she begins to receive threats via email from an anonymous hacker. They blackmail her with the menace of divulging her most intimate images – a case of sextortion. Faced with the inadequacy of authorities, Pati decides she will investigate by herself to stop the blackmailer and leave the nightmare behind. Using the language of desktop movies, My Sextortion Diary is like a docu-thriller told in the first person questioning the relationship between bodies and digital devices. Patricia Franquesa has made a fast-paced protest film on the fragility of the victims of a kind of blackmail against which justice is ineffective. Its language opens to contemporary practices, including interferences of vertical images, voice messages, and AI readings. (a.d.)

Patricia Franquesa is a director and a producer. She has a master in Creative Documentary from Pompeu Fabra University. She co-founded Gadea Films and made her directorial debut with Oh Dear Sare (2021), which garnered awards at the Iran IFF and at the Evolution Mallorca FF.
