NIGHT BLOOMS

Italy | 2025 | 15 min | col. | English

A telephone rings in the dead of night, connecting two distant cities. At the ends of the line, two lovers share their dreams, confess their fragilities, and disclose their fears and secrets, telling a story of desire and passion that takes on the form of a visual, lyrical, and hypnotic poem. Sharply tinted archive footage appears on the screen thanks to an emotional editing which alternates observational moments with more excited ones. A nostalgic soundtrack sustains the inner states of the two protagonists, commenting on the landscapes of their long-distance relationship through heartrending piano notes and the estranging noise from the street. Dream and reality blend and – in the director’s words – transform “the dialogue into a pure performance of the imagination.” (S.E.C.)
