PIERO PELÙ – RUMORE DENTRO
Italy | 2025 | 82 min | col. | Italian
Piero Pelù is introduced in a vulnerable, almost fragile version. The tinnitus that has plagued the artist has evolved from a debilitating symptom to a depressing condition, prompting Pelù to stop and reflect. He has come to terms with the irreversibility of time and the limitations of a body that has given everything to music. It’s not really a form of giving up, more like a redefinition that includes one’s role in the collective and community. The “noise within” expands from an individual experience to a universal metaphor – the constant signal of a discomfort that involves a whole era besieged by conflicts, lack of communication, and loneliness. Francesco Fei accompanies this confession with an understated approach far from the self-celebratory style that characterizes much of the cinema of rock music. The film dwells on quietness, interrupted only by the invisible score provided by the tinnitus. Precisely in this balance between private fragility and universal reflection, between memory and the present, lies the strength of this film. (E.S)
