Naples: a city of culture and creativity, but also of chaos and criminal dereliction. With the gaze of a foreigner who loves the Mediterranean city, after going there regularly for two years, Trudie Styler challenged herself making a documentary that would depict the contrasts of beauty and sorrow, of light and darkness that characterize a unique town. Letting the local people tell their own story, she unveils a world in which generosity and cruelty, lights and shadows coexist. A multi-faceted and many-voiced portrait featuring rev. Antonio Loffredo, the rebellious and enlightened parish priest of the Sanità neighbourhood, actor Francesco Di Leva, founder of Teatro NEST in San Giovanni a Teduccio, writer Roberto Saviano, and artist Jorit, but also the “strong warriors” who fight for the women, the roast chestnut peddlers, and Antonio, a veteran of the WWII Four Days of Naples. Not to mention Sting who executes “Fragile” for the convicts of the Secondigliano jail. (a.s.)

Trudie Styler is an actress, film producer, director, activist, and UNICEF ambassador. She founded Maven Pictures in 2011 to promote female talent and diversity. Her directorial debut film, Freak Show (2017), had its world premiere at Berlinale.
