TATTI, PAESE DI SOGNATORI

Italy, Switzerland | 2025 | 92 min | col.| Italian

Over decades of globalisation, countless rural communities have been deserted: from the American Midwest to mountain villages in Italy, places like Tatti risk extinction. In this hamlet in the Tuscan Maremma, the elderly residents were unable to reinvent their declining way of life until the arrival of foreign people, such as filmmaker Ruedi Gerber. Becoming friends with the last local farmers, the twins Marco and Massimo, he has launched a silent renaissance. Along with other newcomers, they have begun to reclaim abandoned fields, restoring hope to the small community. The renaissance of the village reached its climax during Marco’s personal crisis, as he has had to cope with these radical transformations while honouring his origins and reinventing his future. This film is at once an intimate portrait and a universal story of resilience, demonstrating how communities have the power to be reborn when the old and the new join forces to preserve what is worth continuing, without fearing change.
