The Festival dei Popoli is pleased to announce the six cinema of reality projects selected for  Itineranze Doc, the education and training programme born from the collaboration between some of the most important Italian festivals dedicated to documentaries. The first stage of the programme will be held at the Bellaria Film Festival, from 8 to 11 May 2025.

The selected projects deal with urgent and stratified themes with an auteur's eye, from historical memory to contemporary activism, passing through migration, gender identity, disability and media representations.

THE TRIALS - Marta Massa
In Budapest a foreign, anti-fascist and non-binary activist is held in solitary confinement. While the country protests against growing authoritarianism, the court prepares the sentence.

A.A.A. SEARCHING - Sara Cecconi
A collective investigation in search of A.A.A. Offresi, a film censored in the 1980s and perhaps lost forever. An opportunity to reflect on sex work, audiovisual memory and the history of Italian society.

HOLIDAYS - Matteo Giampetruzzi
A journey to the island of San Domino, a former place of confinement for homosexual men under the fascist regime, now a tourist destination. The present and the past intertwine in a story that gives voice to the ghosts of memory.

An intimate and collective research on Italian emigration to Argentina in the 1950s, through the story of three sisters between departures, missed returns and new roots.

THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF A BEAUTIFUL LOVE - Cristiano Giamporcaro (with Petra Pirandello)
Bernardo, 63 years old and suffering from a disability, lives in Palermo. He decides to enrol in school to learn to read and write and finally send a letter to the woman of his dreams: Ingrid Bergman.

ONE DISTRAYS AT THE BIVIO - Alessandra Lancellotti
In Lucania, the figures evoked by Rocco Scotellaro's poetry confront the present of a South struggling against depopulation and seeking new forms of future.

Itineranze Doc is a project of  Bellaria Film Festival, Pordenone Docs Fest, Sole Luna Doc Film Festival, PerSo – Perugia Social Film Festival, Festival dei Popoli, FrontDoc – Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Frontiera, with the support of SIAE and MiC within the framework of the ‘Per Chi Crea’ programme.
