The European Doc Academy comprises a group of filmmakers from Europe’s leading documentary film schools. During the 67th edition of the Festival dei Popoli - International Documentary Film Festival (Florence, 31 October – 8 November 2026) the filmmakers will present to the audience the films produced during their training and take part in a dedicated programme featuring workshops, masterclasses and meetings with industry professionals – festival directors, producers, sales agents and distributors.

The aim of the European Doc Academy is to provide participants with the tools and skills to better understand how the international film industry operates in the field of documentary filmmaking.

Selection Criteria

European Doc Academy is seeking films that speak new languages and explore new ways of portraying reality: original themes tackled with an innovative auteurist approach.

How to Apply

Applications – open to films directed by young filmmakers from European film schools – are open until 6 July 2026. The selection of films, the overall programme and the screening schedule are at the sole discretion of the Festival Management, who invite films they deem appropriate for the programme. The results of the selection will be announced from 14 September 2026.
