Popoli for Kids & Teens - Film submissions are now open

The Festival dei Popoli believes in the power of cinema as a tool for discovering the world, experiencing emotion and learning how to see things through fresh eyes. This is why, every year, we work to bring the younger generation to meet the big screen, documentary films and animation.

“Popoli for Kids and Teens” – a project organised in collaboration with Fondazione CR Firenze – offers a rich and varied programme: documentary films and animated shorts aimed at viewers aged between 3 and 18, educational workshops tailored to different age groups, meetings with filmmakers and experts, and many other activities. The initiative will take place during the 67th Festival dei Popoli (Florence, 31 October – 8 November 2026).

Selection criteria

We are looking for films that depict the lives of children and teenagers from various cultures and backgrounds and that address the following themes: environment, integration and/or inclusion, gender identity and/or equal opportunities, sport, leisure, the rule of law and/or combating bullying.

Film submission

Entry is free of charge. Only works produced after 1 November 2025 will be considered for the selection:

- documentary films of any length and nationality;

- animated short films (maximum duration 15 minutes) of any nationality. Priority will be given to films without dialogue or in the Italian language.

When filling the entry form, you will be asked to specify the target age group for your film.

Documentaries may be selected to compete for the “Fondazione CR Firenze - Popoli for Kids and Teens 2026 Prize”, awarded by the student jury as part of Popoli - Young Jury Day 2026.

Submission deadline: 6 July 2026
