Masterclass in the presence of Radu Jude

Romanian director Radu Jude, this year's winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, will be the protagonist of Popoli Reloaded, the initiative organized by the Festival dei Popoli, the international documentary film festival, to celebrate the reopening of theaters , from 15 to 18 June at the cinema La Compagnia in Firenze, with a selection of his films and an in-person masterclass.

Born in Bucharest, Romania in 1977, he graduated in film in 2003 from the direction department of the national university of theater and cinema I.L. Caragiale of Bucharest. Immediately active in the field of cinema, television and advertising in 2006, he won several international festivals but the definitive consecration came in 2015, with the victory in Berlin of the Silver Bear for best director thanks to the picaresque western Aferim! and in 2021 he won the Golden Bear with the film Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn (Babardeală cu bucluc sau porno balamuc).

Aferim! (Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, 2015, 108 ')
western in black and white set in the mid-nineteenth century, raw and irreverent fresco of a country in transformation. Scheduled on 15/06.

The Dead Nation  (Romania, 2017, 83 ')
in which the magnificent photographs of the portraitist Costică Acsinte run parallel to the texts of the Jewish doctor, writer and poet Emil Dorian. Scheduled on 16/06.

I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History As Barbarians (Romania, Czech Republic, France, Bulgaria, Germany, 2018, 140 ')
brilliant black comedy about the collective repression of an entire nation. Scheduled on 17/06.

The Exit of the Trains (Romania, 2020, 175 ')
recent work on the pogroms against the Jewish population during the Nazi invasion. Scheduled on 16/06.

Uppercase Print (Romania, 2020, 128 ')
alienating investigation into the secret police of the Ceausescu regime. Scheduled on 18/06.

The Marshall's Two Executions (Romania, 2018, 10 ')
short about the shooting of General Ion Antonescu. Scheduled on 16/06.
