Feminist Frames at the 65th Festival dei Popoli
Feminist Frames is an international group of feminist filmmakers producing independent films of different genres in a creative dialogue with various artistic disciplines.
During the 65th edition of the Festival dei Popoli (Nov. 2-10 in Florence), Feminist Frames will curate an itinerary of five film screenings by moderating introductions and post-screening conversations.

The aim of Feminist Frames is to create a network for support, solidarity and co-creation from a feminist perspective. Part of the group previously came together during the three-year project Purple Meridians (2020-2023), funded by Eurimages. Feminist Frames is supported by the research project IMFilm (PNRR NextGeneration EU), based at the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia.
This international group of feminist filmmakers will introduce and curate post-screening conversations on films by women filmmakers on issues that range from the work of second-wave feminist thinker Carla Lonzi - IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT THE NEED TO WRITE HISTORY ARISES by Contanze Ruhm - to the Dutch women's peace movement in the 1930s - REMANENCE by Sabine Groenewegen - the women who took part in the construction of the Šamac-Sarajevo railway in 1947 - NEWSREEL 242 - SUNNY RAILWAYS by Nika Autor - the testimonies of partisan women from the Balkans during the Second World War - WOODS THAT SING by Renata Poljak - and the historic trial at the International Criminal Court against the perpetrators of sexual violence during the war in the former Yugoslavia, the first to consider rape, torture and sexual slavery crimes against humanity - SILENCE OF REASON by Kumjana Novakova.
