
Popoli for Kids and Teens
Popoli for Kids and Teens, the Festival dei Popoli's initiative dedicated to documentary and animation films for young audiences, features 13 films related to current affairs, educational workshops, meetings with directors and special events for schools. Appointment from 2 to 10 November 2024 in Florence at PARC - Performing Arts Research Centre, at La Compagnia cinema and at Cinema Astra in Florence, in Prato at Terminale Cinema, thanks to the collaboration with Cinefilante at La Casa del Cinema in Prato.
The selected documentaries and animated shorts tell life stories of children and adolescents and have a high educational value, both from the point of view of a first literacy to the cinematographic language and with respect to the themes tackled, which contemplate the sustainable development objectives defined in the UN 2030 Agenda, including: inclusion, recognition of diversity and the fight against all forms of marginalisation and discrimination, activism, youth and women's rights, anti-discrimination, inclusion, climate and migration emergency, racism.
The film proposal is complemented by workshops for different age groups, matinees for schools, meetings with directors, events for the whole family, a jury of girls and boys (Young Jury Day).
The Festival dei Popoli, with its ‘Popoli for Kids and Teens’ programme, is part of the Docs4Teens - Building Bridges network together with the FIPADOC festival (France), the Krakow Film Festival (Poland), Docudays UA (Ukraine) and Porto Post Doc (Portugal) with which it shares the objective of promoting the documentary genre among young people and the circulation of films dedicated to young audiences throughout Europe.
Initiative realised with the contribution of the Città Metropolitana di Firenze and the support of Publiacqua,, in collaboration with Parc, Fabbrica Europa, Fondazione Stensen, Lanterne Magiche, Cinefilante, Terminale Cinema - Casa del Cinema di Prato, Unicoop Firenze and Mukki.

The Young Jury of the 61st Festival dei Popoli awarded the prize for best film to THE OPEN WINDOW.
